Woman's Health and Pregnancy Care

Incontinence or bladder weakness is a very common problem; approximately a third of women in the UK have incontinence. Research has shown that Physiotherapy can help to make a great difference to your symptoms of incontinence.

Physiotherapists will assess the cause of your problem and provide invaluable information, advice and treatment to address your incontinence.

Pregnancy related care can be provided by specialist physiotherapists at Physioflex.
The pelvis is more vulnerable during pregnancy as the hormone Relaxin is produced in order to allow increased movement within the pelvic joints (sacro-iliac joints at the back of the pelvis and symphsis pubis joint at the front). Relaxin makes the ligaments more pliable to allow the pelvis to expand during labour in order to facilitate delivery of the baby.

Physiotherapy can help to facilitate normal pelvic position and mechanics irrespective of stage of pregnancy. A Serola belt may be needed to support the pelvis in the correct position along with postural and muscle correction with advice on daily activities.
